Welcome to Step Parenting with Purpose

Welcome to my blog aligning with my book, “Step Parenting with Purpose: Everything you wanted to know but were too afraid to ask.”

No one ever dreams of being a step parent. No one. It was the furthest thing from my neat, organized career woman’s world of TV reporting and media.

But somewhere along the lines, I believe step parenting chooses you.

If you answer yes to the following three questions, then my blog and book are definitely for you. You can always contact me and I will do my best to help.

  • Do you wish there was a step parent handbook full of advice that actually works?

  • Do you want a really happy step-family with minimal stress?

  • Do you want someone to help you navigate the challenging situation of step-parenting successfully?

There is a well-known phrase that states: “A step parent is so much more than just a parent; they made the choice to love when they didn’t have to.”

I don’t quite agree that the step parent is so much more than just a parent because you aren’t really at liberty to talk about being a parent, unless you are one.

However, this just about sums up the journey of many step parents. Step parenting is just like parenting but with none of the credit and all of the blame.

15 years ago, I actually couldn’t find a book which tackled the real nitty-gritty and awkward questions that I really wanted to know the answer to.

And so, now 15 years down the track into my step parenting journey I’ve written the book I wished had been available back then.

In Step Parenting with Purpose, I share my experience and some incredibly useful tips and advice in order to help others find more harmony in their step parenting journey.

The step parenting/blended family dynamic is ever changing. Much like a garden that needs regular maintenance, fertiliser and attention so does this whole new world. A neglected garden bed full of weeds can be transformed into a flourishing floral world but it takes some work, time and commitment to achieve results.

Step Parenting with Purpose tackles many of the questions you have but are too afraid to ask:

  • It helps you navigate your own, sometimes conflicting, emotions;

  • It gives you insights into some of the more challenging step parenting events;

  • It provides tips on how to engage and manage the ex, the grandparents and, of course the step children.

You don’t have to navigate step parenting on your own. Step Parenting with Purpose is the ultimate ‘go to’ companion and might well be the book that saves your sanity, relationships and family.
